Preparation Guideline

💡 Why Preparation Matters

Before you dive into your Xploration, a little preparation can make all the difference. You'll be exploring outdoors, solving clues, moving from place to place, and absorbing the world around you. Let’s make sure you’re comfortable, safe and fully present for the adventure.

✅ Your Xploration Checklist

Your Phone & Connection

  • Fully charged phone

  • Optional: take a power bank

  • Stable mobile data connection

  • GPS activated

  • Volume on (some levels may need sound cues in the future)

Physical Readiness

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • You feel fit enough for a walk (make sure you read the Xploration description for walking distance)

  • Bring enough water to stay hydrated

  • Bring some nutritous snacks or make sure you can supply yourself at a kiosk or restaurant nearby

  • You’re prepared for the expected weather forecast - sun, wind, or rain (sun protection, hat, rain protection, etc.)


Mindset & Awareness

  • Open and curious mindset

  • Ready to slow down and connect

  • Prepared to look closely and notice details

  • Shared spirit if playing with others

Location Matters

Make sure you're at the official starting point. Only from there will your Xploration unfold correctly. You'll find the starting location clearly marked in the XploreMe! App and on the specific Xploration page, that shows information and details.

Start When You’re Ready

There’s no fixed time, no guide, no pressure.
As soon as you're at the starting location and ready to begin, open the app and type in your code.
It's recommended to prepare upfront and type in your access code before you're at the actual starting point, so you can make sure to already get used to the App a little more, read Guidelines, etc. Don't worry as soon as you used the Code once, you'll have access to that specific Xploration as long as the game is not completely finished.

How to Xplore Responsibly

Exploring with XploreMe! means discovering new places freely and responsibly.
To keep every Xploration safe, fun and respectful, please follow these simple but important guidelines:

⚠️ Stay Aware of Your Surroundings

  • Always stay alert and aware of your environment – streets, traffic, cyclists, and other people.

  • Avoid reading or solving clues while walking. Stop safely before checking your phone.

  • Never enter private property, construction zones, or restricted areas.

  • Follow local laws, pedestrian signals and road crossings at all times.

🌦️ Be Weather-Ready

  • Check the weather forecast before starting your Xploration.

  • Avoid playing during severe weather such as thunderstorms, heavy rain or flooding risk, extreme heat or heatwave alerts, icy conditions, strong winds or storm warnings, poor visibility (dense fog) or any active safety warning issued locally

  • Bring water, wear comfortable shoes, sun protection, and weather-appropriate clothing.

  • Take breaks if you feel unwell or tired – there’s no time limit.

🌿 Respect Nature & Culture

  • Do not disturb plants or animals. Avoid touching or consuming wild fruits or anything unfamiliar.

  • Keep nature clean – take your waste with you and avoid damaging natural surroundings.

  • Respect local culture, communities and heritage sites.

  • Keep noise to a minimum and behave courteously toward residents and visitors.

📵 Use Technology Safely

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged before you start; a power bank is recommended.

  • Use GPS and data responsibly; don’t block paths or traffic while navigating.

  • Take care when using headphones – keep one ear open to your surroundings.

🧍‍♀️ Your Safety Comes First

  • Participate at your own risk and within your physical limits.

  • Avoid dangerous shortcuts or any routes that feel unsafe.

  • There is no need to hurry – each level can be completed at your own pace.

  • Children and young people under 18 should only participate under adult supervision.
